Butter Sugar Flour’s name represents the pure simplicity of the basic ingredients used to make its baked goods.  Butter Sugar Flour is unique because it makes each good from scratch, one good at a time.  This process represents the care and attention to detail Butter Sugar Flour gives to each baked good sold.

Butter Sugar Flour’s goal is to bake each customer a baked good they will simply enjoy.

Her Story...

I Continue to be amazed with how my Mother bakes from scratch and how easy she makes it look.  I can say that I have not seen her bake from a recipe card, she simply keeps the ingredients and quantities in her head.  Over the years of watching my Mother bake, I came to understand that she bakes from the heart and baking for her family and friends is one way she shows her love. 

With that understanding, I began my baking journey.  The first cake I wanted to learn how to bake, is a cake I truly love, an old-fashioned brown sugar cake (words can’t explain how much I love this cake).  So, I asked my mother to teach me how to bake and of course, she was happy that one of her daughters wanted to learn how to bake (please don’t tell my sisters I said this). Seriously, I love my Sisters and they have always encouraged me and given good advice.

My Mother began to teach me how to bake and gave me the following words of wisdom: “only use the best ingredients”, “take your time and make it how you like it”.  I took her words to heart.

Needless to say, I learned how to bake the brown sugar cake, adding my own twist, and must say that I have not lost my love for this cake.

Each time I bake, I see how the best ingredients blend well together and taking your time and making it how you like it makes you happy and that happiness is expressed in the flavor of what you bake.  I do believe that good food will make you happy and when you share it with your family and friends it can bring you together.

I now have been happily baking for over ten years and I am grateful my Mother still gives me words of advice.

I think we can agree that with the events happening in today’s world we all have faced or will face challenges which may cause us to think about what makes us happy.  I asked myself that question and the answer was to open the bakery I have dreamed of for years.  To make my dream a reality, I retired early from state government and took the necessary steps to open Butter Sugar Flour. 

I am so happy I did!

The name Butter Sugar Flour was in my head for many years and as I have stated the name represents the pure simplicity of the basic ingredients used to make its baked goods.  No substitutions just “Butter Sugar Flour”.
